Antonio Conte believes that Harry Kane deserves to have won a major trophy in his career by now and is stunned that he is yet to claim some silverware.
Besides than a few loans as a youngster, Kane has spent his entire career at Tottenham, who famously have not won a trophy since their 2008 League Cup triumph.
Despite his ongoing search to win a cup, Kane has claimed quite the haul of individual honours and broken dozens of records and milestones.
Should he score in Spurs’ Premier League clash with Fulham on Saturday, he will equal Thierry Henry’s record for most goals in London derbies (42).
Speaking ahead of the Whites’ visit, Conte was flabbergasted that Kane is on the verge of another record without having any team honours to show for it.
“The records underline that you are doing something special, and I think Harry in his career is doing something special in personal achievement because it’s really a pity with so many personal big achievements and you don’t win [trophies],” he said.
“Until now he hasn’t won and usually when you score a lot of goals for your national team and club you deserve to have a good win on your back – but we are trying to work and help him to find and get this target.
“You know very well for us that Harry is important and we are talking about a world class striker but I see the desire in him, the desire to do something special.
“When you win it means you lift trophies, Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and with the national team the Euros, World Cup and these are trophies you have to lift and you are talking about a top player and I think he deserves this.”
Kane has finished in the runner-up in four finals in his career – two League Cups, the 2019 Champions League with Tottenham and Euro 2020 with England – while Spurs also finished second to Conte’s Spurs in the 2016/17 Premier League.
