Diego Costa Breaks Off Contract With Atletico Madrid
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have agreed with Diego Costa to dissolve his current deal with the top flight club. Costa’s deal was set to expire by summer 2021 but the Spanish International has decided to end his stay at the club due to personal reasons. This means that the 32-year-old will be free to join a new club when the January transfer window opens.
“The striker asked to leave the club for personal reasons a few days ago and on Tuesday signed the termination of his contract. The club thanks Diego Costa for his dedication during these years and wishes him well in the next stage of his professional career.” read by an Atletico statement on Tuesday.
Costa initially joined Atletico in 2006, scoring forty-three goals in ninety-four appearances including helping the club to a Spanish title in 2014. He later signed with Chelsea in 2014, playing under Antonio Conte And Jose Mourinho before returning back to Spain three years after. However, he suffered a series of injuries that weakened him as he struggled to return back to form.
