PSG Sacks Head Coach Thomas Tuchel; Appoints Mauricio Pochettino

After two and a half years at French Top Flight football club Paris Saint-Germain, the management at the club has let go of the 47-year-old German. Tuchel assumed the role of head coach in May 2018 with an initial two-year contract before a one-year extension in May 2019, he had until the end of this season before his contract expired. The former Dortmund coach led the Ligue 1 side to two league titles, the French Cup and French League Cup, including reaching their first Champions League final last season, losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich.

PSG’s Sporting director Leonardo is said to have made contact with representatives of Pochettino with an agreement ready to be reached in the next twenty-four hours. The 48-year-old Argentine has been out of a job since leaving Tottenham in November 2019. Though, the sacking came hours after they thumped Strasbourg 4-0, there has been some kind of falling out between the former coach and sporting director over recruitments towards the end of the summer transfer window.
